So what is the deal with Shenzhen

There is a great seat sale on now for me to fly to Hong Kong. I am fasinated by the things I am reading on the Shenzhen action. I was wondering if it was worth a few hundred dollars for me to fly out to Hong Kong just to see Shenzhen. I want to go cheap so I am talking cheap hotels and cheap fun so of course that means CHEAP girls.

Needless to say, Hong Kong is not a consideration due to costs. How hard is it to land at Hong Kong and go straight to Shenzhen? I see that I can either take a ferry or go through Hong Kong. Which is better/cheaper/faster? If I go through Hong Kong how do I get on the train to Shenzhen or do I just take the ferry to Shekou and hop on the subway?

Lastly, what about hotels? I don't want to stay in a roach infested dive. I don't need to be pampered either. Just something basic, quiet, and clean.

    1. Take a bus directly from the Hong kong airport to shenzen Approx 150 Hong kong dollars to your hotel in shenzen.Information at Hong Kong airport website.
    2. Go to ctrip.com and choose and book a hotel.
    3. Read all the reports and you will get an idea where the action is.
    4. Make sure you got a visa for China.

That's cutting it close. The plane may be a bit late and if you have checked baggage well....... HK airport is huge. It could be a long walk from your gate to ground transportation.

Even if there is no bus left, you can still share a van with some late arrivers. I have done it before. The cost varies depending on how many people you can get to share it. I paid $180 HK Dollar when sharing with 5 other people. The van will take you to the Shenzhen and Hong Kong border, then you have to go through the custom. Make sure you have a Chinese visa before you go though. Otherwise, you will have to spend the night in HK and get a visa the next day, which would be very expensive.

I'm a Shenzhen newbie - just booked my first trip for next week on China Air (7800 baht round-trip). Also, yesterday I got my China visa at the embassy in Bangkok.

The embassy is on Ratchapisek (sp) Road. You can take the Skytrain to Asoke, then take subway to either Thai Cultural Center station or Rama 9 (the embassy is between them).

You get visa not at the embassy but at the white building next to it. They only take applications from 9 to 10:30 am. Three choices of processing speed: 5 days, 2 days and same-day. I did same-day because the embassy is closed next Monday and Tuesday for Thai holidays and I am flying Wednesday.

Visa fee is 2200 baht for regular service. Plus 1200 baht for same-day express. You need to bring two passport photos. You can get them at the Kodak shop on soi 4 next to Nana Plaza for 150 baht.

I think you can also get a visa when you get to Hong Kong, but it takes several hours, so better to plan ahead I think.

I don't know yet where I'm staying - traveling companion working on it now.

I understand that $12 USD (100 in their money) is the price you should pay for girls (short time). Anything higher is a rip-off.

The going rate is 150 yuan, 50 to the mamasan and 100 to the girl. Don't expect the girls to speek any English.

I was in Shenzhen last January, and I always paid 100 yuan total for the
short time girls. No english is spoken, they just use their cell phones keypad
    to negotiate numbers.
No need to pay more than 100, and most of the girls did not expect tips.
I only tipped 20 yuan (RMB) to the very best performers.

Price tends to fluctuate a bit. Near the Shangri-La Hotel in Luohu, you can usually get short time for 100RMB, but not always. I'm guessing that Monty went during January right before Chinese New Year. This is one of those times of the year when there are very few customers for sex in the city. Most of the girls usually go back to their home towns. During times like this, you can almost always get it for 100RMB. Other times though, you usually have to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of 130-150RMB. The girl usually gets 100RMB and the mamasan gets the rest.

Just back from Shenzhen. Stayed at a cheaper hotel next-door to the Shangra-La. Just walking around the block, I was met by a lot of mamasans and papasans.

They would take me up to an apartment and girls would show up. I could never get them to 100 rmb - 150 rmb was the lowest they would go. Perhaps I'm not a strong enough negotiator. It was difficult, as no English was spoken.

The girls didn't speak English, either, but they were cute nonetheless. I attached a photo of my favorite.

If you're Asian, for ST, the place to go is Sha Zui. Sha Zui probably has the best selection of girls in the city. If you're not Asian, the local security guards will follow you around and harass you so I wouldn't really recommend it. Another thing, Sha Zui is in Futian, so if you're staying in Luohu, it's almost a 30 minute cab ride.

Another popular place is BEHIND the Shangri-La. Near the subway station near there, there are lots of mamasans hanging around. They'll take you to some apartments about 5-10 minute walk from the subway station.

Yet another place is behind the Jusco shopping mall. The Jusco shopping mall is at the Ke Xue Guan stop on the subway. Go to the South Eastern end and walk south along the road until you see the 7-11. Then walk through the alleys behind the 7-11. You'll see a bunch of shops with girls sitting around.

There's another dozen places spread throughout Shenzhen. Shenzhen though, pales in comparison to Dongguan.

I would always negotiate price with the mamasan on the street.
If she insisted on more than 100, I would walk away, and of course
she would come down to 100 rather than let me walk away.
Do your negotiating in the street with the mamasan, and then only pay after
you go to the apartment and have chosen one that you like.

100RMB is correct, 1000RMB is about US$125, and that is far too much for short time in Shenzhen.
    I always paid 100RMB
