HornyBastard1 and ALL you were of course correct.
After my friend (who in his defense is both not Monger or Worldly savey but smart guy who fell in love with a foto)
Has not only probably lost it all but the bitch (Nigerian Male) emails him asking for more money with the old Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) Nigerian Scam. Click on the site detailing the scam.
"BTA = Basic Travel Allowance
The expression BTA seems to crop up quite often recently. The term goes back a-while when foreign exchange was severely controlled/regulated (in Nigeria, but many other countries too). In fact, it was very difficult to obtain any foreign currency legally. However, is not fun to arrive somewhere without at least some small change in your pocket - you were not allowed to take local currency with you (not that anybody would have changed that for you), nor foreign currency either, except for what you had brought into the country with you previously.
That led to the introduction of the BTA. It was the amount you were allowed to legally purchase and carry around with you in the days of strict regulation. Despite being legally entitled to the BTA, the red tape of applying for and getting .....
Whereas the scammers have turned that to mean you have to have at least this amount in your pocket to be allowed to travel, which is a figment of scammer phantasy.
You may be asked to provide evidence of how you intend to finance your stay in a country when applying for a visa, but that is a different matter".
