What's it like for Black men in Bangkok?

Hey everyone,


My name is Frank and YES, I'm very new. Anyway, I'm going to Bangkok in November and quite a few people have tried to explain to me what to expect. First, what is the exchange rate for American dollars to Bahts? For a newbie like me (going by myself) what city in Bangkok or what area should I concentrate on? i'll only be there 4 days. Some of my friends in Taiwan tell me that they try to charge black men more money because they think we're working with larger equipment (....Well, I am 6'5) but anyway, does anyone have any comments on this. I'd like to meet 2 or 3 nice (they don't have to be models) Thai girls a night for my 4 days. (Yeah...12 total) what can I expect to pay? Thanks guys for the great forum. ANY help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Frank you'll enjoy yourself over there. I'm mixed (black,white,latino) and i went there a few years back with friends who were black and white. We are all 6'2 and up. I'm 6'6". You won't have a problem finding girls to spend time with. They're everywhere. Bangkok is good but I enjoyed Pattaya a little better. You'll be fine over there. Money is the only thing that they care about. You may have a few that may be picky about race but there are thousands of others who won't give a damn as long as they are getting paid.

For exchange rates use www.xe.com it's a pretty good site.

avg rates for the girls:
short time 500-1000 baht
long time 1000-1500

it's been a while since i've been in bangkok so those rates are for pattaya. if the girls treat you really really good tip them a couple of hundred baht more or buy them a cheap gift like a teddy bear or something. A cheap meal would be a treat for them too.

2-3 hour ride depending on the traffic. maybe closer to 3 hours. when you choose a cab make sure you ask the guy if he's ready to leave now. i've seen people who have had to wait for a while after giving a driver their money. don't give money until you're in a car and make sure you tell them to use the highway/expressway. or some hotels have airport pickup/drop off. i'll see if i can find the site of the hotel i used in pattaya.

I did a search for the hotel i stayed in and they're website is down or not working anymore. Anyway, the name of it is Pattaya Centre Hotel. Yes, it's spelled C-E-N-T-R-E. It's a pretty good hotel. It's in a good location. There are hotels everywhere but this is the one I like. They have a safe, pool, AC, nice rooms, bar, restaurant and the staff is really nice. There are some other places that I'll look at next time. I'm satisfied with them, I just like to change things up from time to time.

Anyway, they will pick you up and take you back to the airport if you want.

Why shouldn't it be spelt correctly?The word which was originally French came into English usage in the 18th century and the spelling remained the same CENTRE.By contrast center is a phonetic abomination that may be in common usage in the Americas but is is just plain old wrong.

I never said it was spelled correctly or incorrectly. I just wanted to make a point to him that that's the way the name was spelled at this particular place because there's another hotel there that spells it C-E-N-T-E-R. I jumped on the back of a moped taxi one time and said take me to Pattya Center hotel and he took me to the one that I wasn't staying in. I looked really nice though. Plus, if he decides to look it up on the internet he'll know the one i'm talking about.

Whether it's correct or not is of no concern to me. I'm just pointing out the difference in spelling.

i see that you're from the U.K. I spent 3 wonderful years there mongering and etc. i like the way the Brits speak and spell. It's the original version not spoiled with our american slang. i learned a lot there. always had a good time. my British friends introduced me to the pint and now i'm hooked. our beer sucks compared to yours but if i want to get drunk i just drink more.

You can take the bus to Pattaya. Just ride the Sky Train to Ekamai station, go down stairs like you were heading back to Nana plaza to the Ekamai Bus Station. The air con but costs B101 to Pattaya. For some strange reason it is only B100 from Pattaya to Bangkok. TIT, This is Thailand...

I agree that Pattaya is cheaper. I normally pay B500 ST and 1,000 LT.

Some girls may call me "Cheap Charlie" for offering those prices, but I don't care. Another -usually prettier one- is always comming along.

Overpaying won't get you a better "performance" or any respect. It will, however, deplete your bank account faster.

Oh yeah, and make sure that the girls do not think your African, but a Afro-American or Afro-European (like moi..... ).

Thing is that the most African are involved with scams and do not treath the girls nicely.

Show that you're American, be nice, buy them drinks (Africans don 't) and things will be EASY!!
