Dirt Cheap Tailor Made Suits In Thailand??

Someone told me that you can buy excellent quality suits in Bangkok and Pattaya at dirt cheap prices. A colleague of mine said he bought tailor made silk suits in Pattaya for $1000 baht each!! That is amazing if it is true. And if it is true, then that is a good enough reason to go to Thailand. Can someone please confirm this info on dirt cheap quality tailor made suits in Bangkok and Pattaya.

1000 bt for a suit in Pattaya !!!

Most of the tailore in dealing with tourists are rip of Indians. There shops look like shit with "Pat" from eastenders type floral shirts in th ewindow and cheap suits that look shit. Same most of Bangkok. They produce expensive (because you wont wear it much !!) rubbish. I spend very good money on suits and shirts etc. And have found that Thailand is one of the worse places.... they rush everything and have no eye for detail.

The Best tailor I have seen and used is "Narin" Couture In Bangkok. Soi 8-19 On the Sukhumvit. The moment to enter into this shop you should understand!! Not very cheap.. About 3000bt for trousers etc. But I have never found quality like it anywhere else.

Hong Kong used to be the best place for tailor-made garments. Maybe it still is?

Not true.... Some of the stuff was crap. Unless you understand good quality tailoring etc. then its difficult to judge. To Buy suits... Not tailor made .Go to Egypt. (Home to the best factories in the world)

Most of these suit places are ripp off joints. Indians using cheap labour and taking the piss. I lived in Hk and found i got sick and tired of the crap offered there. Ok... There are some good ones. But most use factories to make the suits. . Once you have had a real tailor make you a bespoke suit /shirt etc then you wil understand why they dont need to stand outside their shops touting for business like hookers.

In Bangkok I would recomend a visit to "Narin" Couture at 8-10 Sukhumvit. Not far to go. Take a look at the whole set up and see the quality. They dont offer all that stupid 2 suits and 3 shirts with a blazer for only £150.00 crap. This place would make a fortune in London.

My experience has come from my ex wife who is a buyer for a major fashion house. Her annual budget for suits alone would run to 100's thousands of pounds. She taught me all the tricks of the trade!!

On this topic, they go out front of their shops and harrass passers by to get them into the shop. Some of them are damn aggressive. Would good, reputable tailors have to do this?

-Singh in front of VC hotel.Scammer.Job not bad but when I payed the lady did give me my trousers but no receipt (ok I didn't ask).Day after the same lady came to my condo and tried to blackmail me saying I didn't pay;insulting my GF who saw I payed. The magic words "tourist police" made the lady quickly desapearing....

The quality of the material in these Thai places is ok but I always find its the finishing off that lets everything down. Bits of cotton poking out all over the place, pockets coning unstitched.
In the long run its simply a waste of money as they KNOW you wont be staying in Thailand so you are hardly likely to return and complain

I agree with you Crackpott...exept they know I live in Pattaya. They know I come back when there is a problem. And Nini, the shop I mentioned corrects the problem for free when one occur. But for tourists......You cannot expect the same quality of work than in europ,I fear. You buy in thailand average quality for very cheap price.TIT

I had a suit and two jackets and two pairs of pants and three shirts made with top materials by Manhattan Tailors in Bangkok for about 650 US and the quality appears very good. The fit was as well. I am far from a clothes expert, though.
But you DO have to watch for many scams. First, make sure that you get the material you pay for. Sometimes these guys switch to a cheaper material than promised. Its not a bad idea to find out through recommendations just how much outside work these tailors do. The ones that do a big mail order business are probably better. As they have to please repeat customers.
Yeah, the tailors in Pattaya I found worse than the beer bars...guys promising to make me an Armani suit for six bucks. Its just crazy, and I dont think good tailors should have to do this.
"ST" suit indeed, Agency...LOL! Thats a good one!
