I know it's been discussed before but I would like to try and understand something.
What makes clever rational Men who have been successful in the UK come here and lose all their money to a Thai Girl with about 5 years education!
Is this a Western Male thing. Do Asian Men i.e. Japanese Chinese Taiwanese come here and make the mistakes the Brits do.
Of everyone I meet, seems to me the English Male loses the most money to Thai Girls here...or is it because I am speaking mostly to English Males?

Speaking to a Guy last night, clever well educated chap who's lived here for years. He's boasting that He only lost a 4 mil Baht house and 30.000 Euros of diamond and gold to His ex.
She's fuckin stupid HE said!! I don't think so...not a bad years earnings for any girl from Issan.

The longer I stay here the more convinced I am to NEVER buy anything in Thailand. You would have more right to buy land on mars.

If like Him you can shrug your shoulders at losing this then by all means come here and do likewise.

IMO THailand will be ruined in a few years if we keep doing this sort of thing.

How is it possible for little uneducated Girls from Issan to take so much in such a short time.

Someone told me this place is an old Mans last stand and most come here just to finish all their money then take a dive from a high floor.

My gut feeling is that very few Asian men have truly "lost" a single BAHT to Thai girls.
If your friend laughs about losing 100,000 Euros to his ex, I can only think of three reasons:

1. His ex wife gutted him in the UK for far far far more.

2. He's an idiot.

3. This woman was heaven above in the sack.

None of the above reasons makes any sense except maybe #2.

This place is nothing more than a huge building site, there are houses condos and hotels going up everywhere. Yet everytime I go into a bar it's empty and they say we have no farang! Why is all this building taking place and who for?
My gut feeling is it's mostly Westerners planning retirement with their Thai Angel, little realising that's the last they see of their money.

I think the Asian Men are too clever for them, which really does make us look bad in the eyes of all Thais.

I remember the first time I took a girl in my hotel room, I joked with the porter that She was for free. Man, was She angry about that. She said to me "never tell Him that cause He thinks you are so stupid paying money for me. If He thinks free He will cause a problem for me when I leave"

That's really what the Thais think of us but I have a hunch they have great respect for their Asian neighbours..

I've heard a couple of stories about men taking dives from a high floor after losing all their money. Once was about a man staying in Pattaya who wanted to do a visa run, I think to Penang. He asked his girlfriend where could he find a safety deposit box for £100,000 he had recently aquired for the sale of his house in the UK. Now this sounds like a hell of a lot of cash to be carrying around and I may have lost some of the facts in the hearing and telling of the story. But the essence of the story I find believable. Anyway, his TG said that she would look after it and he could put it in her account.

Well you know what happened when the man got back from Penang. No sign of the girl. The man had virtually no money left. I was told it was the VC Hotel in South Pattaya he jumped from. That's a fucking long drop.

Yeah there's loads of incredible stupidity especially in Pattaya. Falangs usually go to Pattaya for the opposite sex, but this can involve a variety of motives. Some falangs whether they admit it or not are really searching for love, a very difficult thing to find in Pattaya. When they think they've found it, they come blinded to the girls dishonesty and open themselves up to all kinds of rip offs and scams. It happens over and over again.

It does surprise me that it still happens so much with all the information available. But some punters just don't want to hear what they don't want to hear. They don't want to hear anything bad about their Thai sweetheart. Because this one's really special and she's not like the rest. Poor girl, she only worked bar because she's so poor and really she's such a good girl because she takes care of her family.

When I first went to Pattaya there was none of that information availabe. There was no such thing as the internet. I had to learn myself. I admit that the first time I went, towards the end of my time, I fell head over heels "in love" (ho ho) with a girl with the unusual Thai name of Na. I couldn't get her off my mind and was determined to get back to see her. I even didn't know anything about this thing about sending them money. In my generosity, I even sent her £10 for her birthday. When I went back the following year, she was a bit hostile to me and that was the end of that. Good thing and I've never developed any serious feelings for a Thai girl again, apart form lust.

Now I thought I was pretty wised up about the wicked ways of women. But I was still made a sucker by an Asian women, thought not a bar girl and not a Thai girl. Beware guys, just because she's not a bar girl, it doesn't mean she's not gong to try to con you. I didn't lose anythng like the man in your story Rocky and I certainly have never laughed about what happened. In fact, as you know, I gained something very valuable. But I did initially believe lies I should have been more questioning about.

On the subject of whether Asian men are as stupid as falangs in this respect, there were a couple of bar girls living in the street I used to stay in Angeles City in PI. You really get an insight when you see what they get up to away from the bars. I used to have to listen to their mobile phone conversations with their boyfriends sometimes which they would have out in the street for a better signal. Now one of these girls had a boyfriend from Taiwan. He was a huge joke in the street because of all the money he was giving her. I met him once, a pleasant enough guy with a profession and a good income. He was also a prize idiot and everybody knew it. The girl came pregnant and that's when they can really get you by the balls. I felt really sorry for the baby, because it was obvious the family were a reall bunch of gold digging blood suckers. Last I heard, he'd finally wised up to her constant fucking around and they'd split up. The best part of the story though was that there'd been a custody battle for the baby. I think this happened in PI. It's believeable because this guys family had plenty of money and would have supported him. Anyway the Taiwanese guy won the battle and the kid went back to Taiwan. I was very happy because I knew that kid would have a much better life. Money lost is sad, but kids having their lives fucked up is much, much worse.

But yeah, in my experience, Asian men can be pretty stupid too.

There's plenty of foolishness in Pattaya and I think that was Rocky's point. Is a girl you been seeing for a while in Pattaya a relative stranger? I don't know. But to trust a girl you meet in Pattaya with a lot of money is downright craziness. It's amazing to see how many falangs do lose their head though.

Even before I made my first trip to Thailand my drinking pal's mate got ripped off for about 125000 pounds and a big house. But He shacked up with another one immediately after...Some people never learn.

Yeah, thats true. When we are looking at it from the OUTSIDE, we think the guy is an idiot trusting some Woman not his 30-year wife with his life savings. But not fully understanding the situation myself, its hard to really know what went on in the guy's mind.

Maybe it's the attraction of a different flavor. In Korea, I had a Korean friend that was in business. He spent years penny pinching to send his 2 kids to an American university. He sent his wife along to look after his children. I met him about 6 months after this. He introduced me to a few local places with Russian girls. After some time at his request, we went only to one particular place and I noticed he always requested the same girl. Soon enough, he had her staying in an apartment and she was no longer working in the club. I left not too long after that, but I still kept in touch. Turns out, he abandoned his wife and kids... payed them a nice settlement to be out of his life. He drained his account buying this Russian girl everything you could think of. He even bought her parent a home back in the motherland. Once the money slowed down, she was on a plane home. He is finally building up his finances again, but he will never see his children again. Many of his Korean friends won't talk to him any more. He wants to move to the States so he can reconcile with his family, but it seems a long shot. Basically, he lost everything. This sounds really familiar with what a lot of westerners experience in the east. The problem is not a pronounced as it is with us, but in the global economy, it might become that way.

One thing about Asian men... it's more acceptable for them to have mistresses. They are even allow to hit the local whore scene. That is something we as westerners usually aren't permitted. That might be a reason Asian men don't seem to fall into this trap like we do with the same frequency.

I think in the West, especially the UK, we are the most sexually opressed of people. Everything is censored and sex is a dirty word.
Listening to a radio program before I came here and a caller got into trouble for using the word vagina. We call it front bottom, snapped the old bag doing the radio 2 interview. With a mentality like that how can you win.

But...what about the Germans, Dutch French etc? They have never been sexually opressed, always had legal brothels and a flourishing sex industry but they fall into the trap we do to.

My take on it is...we are brought up in an equal society, Women and Men are classed as equals, in most cases Women are more than our equal. You ever hear an Asian Man call His Wife His better half?

Asian Men are too well equipped to deal with Thai Women, they don't respect em, just look at them as objects of lust and sexual relief.
Where we, look at them as potential Wifes or partners (even the pros) and that is where the danger begins cause the pros are well schooled at using their feminine charms to get us to do exactly what they want without us knowing it.

My approach to Thai Women has worked so far and it's simple. Get them to do as much for you as they can by giving them as least reward for it as you can. Treat em like your pet pooch, words of affection and love but don't go buying a new kennel for the hell of it.

I agree with Rocky. The thing a lot of us in the West are conditioned into believing is that in order to have regular sex, we have to show that we are committed to the relationship. As somebody once said, "The price of sex for men is marriage, and the price of marriage for women is sex." If you buy into that way of thinking, it can make you very vunerable, especially financially.

I don't think there's any point pretending that men (in the UK at least) are the equal of women. OK, it's not stated explicitly, but it's enshrined all around us in the way we live. Think about the jokes we make and what about some of the comedies we have to endure. Women just love that "Men Behaving Badly" and I think it's because the two male characters are so downtrodden and ineffectual.

The dominance of women is all around us. Anybody had any experience with family law courts? Women in the UK have been having their cake and eating it for a long time now. At least in Thailand, if you're truly wised up, you can have your fun and walk away no harm done. That's my take anyway.

Yes, we really have a bad deal in the West don't we. My God my friend's so scared of His Wife He isn't allowed to speak when Coronation street or Eastenders is on television.
He's a big handsome 6 foot 4 Guy who would fuckin love it here but sadly hasn't got the balls to stand up to Her.

My Cousin too, a sucessful businessman just got took to the cleaners by a little tramp He had a baby to about three years ago.
She took the 500K house the merc and 1000 quid a week child maintenance. He went to Her Brothers door to see His little girl and He got His face slashed by the family while She stood laughing.

I beleive you do not mention a very serious factor that drives European and American men over a certain age to act like fool with those little ladies.
According to my knowlege the No 1 factor is lonelyness. I cannot understand how a smart guy (you have to be smart to make money these days) can fell to this " give me money" trap.
I think that deep inside those guys know that they are paying for the love or affection they receive from the girls, but then if they go back to their countries whom do they have?
And in conclusion I do not believe that only Western men fell to that trap, Asians will also, do not forget that stubitity is universal, no countrie's barriers or skin colour!

Its simple really. In most western countries the man has to chase the woman.
In Thailand because of the economic situation the woman chases the man.
Simplistic? yes but its true. Most Western men have never been chased by women, let alone 55 year old men being chased by 20-25 year old girls
