From about 150-300 a day and up. Depends what you want a 125cc or a bigger bike.
Beware, they are crazy fuckers when they drive and have no regard for the law.
Also, try to get a Thai girl to rent you one She can use Her ID where they might want to keep your passport.
Laws to remember, wear a helmet and your passenger also. Headlights on at all times and don't park where there are red and white stripes. That's a 200 baht fine down soi9 police station.
Also, they have started breathalising recently...so be careful.
Driving in Thailand is full of hidden dangers, especially if a Thai collides with you. Police will say, you are in my Country, therefore it's your fault.

Apart from that it's a good way to get around. Avoid the motorcycle rental on Pattaya Klang near tops, She ripped off about 50 people including me.
And I have just been told She's moved and now renting in Soi Pattayaland near the classroom.
Hot off the press or what...
    Hope this helps..

One other tghing to add to Rocky's very important comments if I may.

Many travel insurance policies WILL NOT cover you if the bike is more than 110cc..........................Be aware of the limitations If you get hurt you could be on your own. May cost many many thousands. Not baht either.

I rented bikes when I first started going to Thailand. In 1990 I was in Koh Samui on the way back to the hotel with a girl on the back when the front wheel popped. Luckily I was going fairly slowly. No helmets of course as there was no obligation to wear one. This was a fair sized trail bike. The handlebars started turning frantically and the next thing I knew I'd dropped it. The girl was screaming her lungs off and I'd lost a fair bit of skin on one of my arms, legs and hands. I had to take her to the hospital to get her arse stitched up. In typical Thai style, I had to pay for the damage to the bike. I tired arguing that they had rented me a faulty bike but it didn't get me far. The front tyre was obviously sub-standard, but then I'd guess that's quite common in Thailand. I'd had a few bikes in the UK, but the last time I ever rode one was that time in Koh Samui.

There's loads of things that can go wrong if you rent a bike. I've heard it's quite common for the person you rented it off to steal it from outside your hotel. You have to be really alert to drive in Thailand. If you've had a few to drink and you've got a hot Thai bird riding pillion, it can be very hard to concentrate properly, especially when there are so many women to ogle. If you had a spill, apart from all the other costs, you'd probably have to fork out money to the girl too.

When I was in Pattaya in last January, I heard a news report that said there are an average of two deaths by motorcycle a day in Pattaya. Walking and baht buses do me fine nowadays. There's too many women to shag for me to risk my life doing Peter Fonda impersonations.

In 1991 I went back to see the girl from Koh Samui. When I got to her place she was in the shower so one of her friends answered the door. The first thing she did when she came out of the shower was to show me the scar on her arse. I'll never forget her, mainly because she had such a cracking pair of tits. She also had a style of love making which was similar to a pneumatic drill.

    Wheely awful

I clocked a new scam yesterday. Beware the Police box across from Tops at the junction to second road and pattaya Klang.

Guy pulled up beside me on a big bike. The two Cops ran out of the box and turned off His ignition.
They accused Him of doing a wheelie on the road the previous day. Laughing as they were explaining to Him why they stopped Him.
The guy turned round and shouted to me "I only rented this two hours ago, it wasn't me"

Think He got a 1000-2000 baht fine.

Now, there's plenty Police around at all times if He did do a wheelie the day before then why not stop Him at the time?

Maybe I'm mistaken, but it looked like a scam to me. Who knows but beware hiring these big bikes.
    Just my opinion...

Was on second road two weeks ago when some drunk idiot tourist killed himself... everyone could hear him coming up the road too fast and they all looked at each other. Then "Splat" he was dead straight away as he hit a post. Ruined his tan !!!

riding a bike is lethal in Thailand... They are all as thick as shit when it comes to safety and common sense. And the average helmet is a good as a envelope on your head. Better to stick to Bt buses.

Got hit by a Thai last night and he ran. Damage was to the plastic fairing and spark plug and connector.
No police in sight, the thai people around including m/c taxi drivers just looked and stared.
I got the number off the plate, make and model, but my hotel receptionist said no sense talking to police because you need the other info written in thai off the plate that I couldn't read.
Since I have only my national D/L and not an international D/L I was thinking maybe the cops would fine me for that.
Reported it to my rental lady and she felt my pain and she suggested I get an estimate and we will share the costs.
I have a couple of bruises and suggest next time to detain the fucker and call for police or have him pay you in cash right then and now.
A replacement r/f fairing est. is 350b on a honda 110cc scooter. Spark plug and connector 90b. Motorbike taxi took me to the repair shop open late for 60b r/t. An inexpensive lesson, but now I know better.

Be careful out there, best of luck to you, and expect the unexpected.

I will still continue to rent scooters, and hopefully outlive my calculated risk taking!

I reckon you fell lucky there. In my experience most Thais wouldn't have overlooked the chance to squeeze a bit more cash out of a falang. It's nice to hear a storky like this which shows they can be reasonable.

    Yes...lol no chance.

Watching Pattaya news yesterday and saw the Irishman that got into a wrestling match with a policeman.
Now, stupid drunken cunt He was to start trouble with a policeman anyway. But, local Thai motorbike taxi drivers got involved. It wasn't a case of subdue Him, they beat Him to a pulp. His face was unrecognisable, just a mush of broken bones and blood.

That's what will happen to any farang here who messes with a Thai.

Don't think He will be coming back to Thailand.

Some people just don't get it! This reminds me of some farang I bumped into a few years ago in Pattaya. He'd had his face cut to ribbons by a couple of girls he upset. it seems some people are just hell bent on fucking up their holidays!

Maybe it's an Irish thing when you get thick as shit and drunk it's a bad combo.

Last year I had the dis-pleasure of meeting two arseholes in soi 7. They claimed they were connected to the IRA and all that bollocks. The drunker they got they started singing sectarian songs then started to attack any English person they saw. Even started kicking one English guys Thai girlfriend just to start a fight with Him.

Anyhow, they made a big mistake on starting with local Thais, ended up getting stabbed and taken to hospital. They left Pattaya the next day and headed back to their own scarey little World swearing they were going to blow up half of Pattaya...yeah yeah

Good riddence and well done the Thais

This is one side of the coin..... The other is the fact that one of the most popular holiday spot in the world still has a police force from the dark ages.... This just goes to show Thailand doesnt give a fuck and are just a bunch of farang robbing scum.

If somebody is an arsehole alcohol is going to bring that out more than anything. Some falangs in Pattaya think they are going to get away behaving like they do at home or on the Costa del Sol or wherever. Thais have got much harsher ways of dealing with that kind of behaviour than Europeans. Anybody who doesn't take that seriously does so at their peril. It sounds like the two characters you met got what they deserved.

People should try hard to leave their prejudices and hang ups behind them. The last thing I want to hear about when I'm in LOS is squables between different areas of the British Isles. I can really do without that kind of thing on a holiday. Most of us are in Pattaya for the same reason so our similarities should be more relevant than our differences. This is not meant to be a PC rant. People who go to Thailand and start problems with other falangs because of the area of land they're from deserve to be kicked out and Pattaya is a better place without them.

No Irishman connected to IRA would ever even pissed start shooting their mouths off.. Its the same with all the Brits claiming to be part of the Underworld!!

Still reccon the Thai Police should stop the barbaric attacks on tourists...

Sure a lot of farangs in Pattaya are pure scum... I would see loads of them all driving around with the same shit clothes they all wear and those stupid haircuts!! Wont be long before many of them come unstuck in Thailand...
