Buying the Gold Chain

i was told that gold is about 8,000 baht an ounce? Any suggestion on a good place to buy gold in Pattaya???? There are a lot of scams and a lot of that gold is not as pure as they may claim. Also, if you are from the US and buy gold, do you have to pay any duty on it????? Do you have to declare it at Customs??

I know notrhing about purchasing gold in Thailand..is it even that good of an investment?

The gold shops are easily recognisable and all over Thailand. The prices are all the same as the price of gold changes daily. One thing, a Thai bar girl might not know the location of Thailand in relation to the World but She knows the price of gold to the Baht. Thai gold is measured in Baht and is usually 23 carrots.
Beware, it is very soft and bends easily but apparently is very pure.
I wouldn't worry about declaring it to customs, wear it and you should be ok.
